Playmobil movie in the works after 'The Lego Movie's' huge success, report says
An $80 million animated Playmobil movie is in the works, according to Deadline.com. The project is being officially launched at the current Toronto International Film Festival and is already in negotiations with an unnamed U.S. studio.
The film will be based on the popular line of children's toys, which include poseable figures and vehicles.
The film seems to be a clear follow-up to "The Lego Movie," a smash hit in 2014 that created an animated world out of the well-known building blocks and yellow-faced figures (though the film was technically computer-animated).
The Playmobil movie's writer and director is Bob Persichetti, whose credits include "Puss In Boots" and "Shrek 2."
