Prometheus gets buzz with Charlize Theron

THE DEAL The star of Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi epic appeared at San Francisco's fantasy convention WonderCon earlier this week and described her character, corporate honcho Meredith Vickers, as "the quintessential suit" who has "something that is a little different," according to TheWrap.com. That semi-informative comment is part of an increasing trickle of information about the closely guarded film, including new trailers, plot tidbits and the odd revelation from co-star Michael Fassbender that he based his character partly on Olympic diver Greg Louganis. Scott, however, is still not saying whether "Prometheus" is directly related to his 1979 classic, "Alien." The film is due in theaters June 8.

THE DEAL The actor, currently starring as a four-limbed alien in the Disney adventure "John Carter" and soon to play a recovering addict in Abel Ferrara's indie film "4:44 Last Day on Earth" (opening Friday in Manhattan), has yet another movie coming out, this one about a mercenary in the Tasmanian jungle who befriends a fatherless family. Frances O'Connor and Sam Neill co-star. Though not scheduled for theatrical release until April 6, "The Hunter" screens Thursday night as part of this season's Furman Film Series.

THE DEAL The Huntington-raised filmmaker, whose mixed martial arts film, "Warrior," earned a supporting actor Oscar nomination for Nick Nolte, is reportedly in talks to direct Sony Pictures' "Neverland," an origin story that explains Peter Pan's lifelong rivalry with Captain Hook. Though no cast has been announced, Channing Tatum is set to produce under his Iron Horse banner. Place your bets now on a title change to avoid confusion with 2004's "Finding Neverland," which starred Johnny Depp as "Peter Pan" author J.M. Barrie.
