 THE DEAL The media and marketing campaign behind the sequel to Ferrell's 2004 comedy seems to be nearing "Transformers" levels. Ferrell's mustachioed Ron Burgundy character has become a spokesman for the Dodge Durango and Jockey briefs ("Give your little anchorman the support he deserves"), while Ben &amp; Jerry's is saluting him with an ice-cream flavor, Scotchy Scotch Scotch. The latest: Emerson College's communications school in Boston will rename itself the Ron Burgundy School of Communication for one day, Dec. 4, with a keynote address from an in-character Ferrell. The film is due in theaters Dec. 20.

 THE DEAL The actor is in negotiations to join the cast of Adam Sandler's latest, according to TheWrap.com. The film is not a comedy, however, but a drama in which Sandler plays a shoe repairman who becomes involved in the lives of his customers. The director is Thomas McCarthy, known for character studies like 2007's "The Visitor," which earned Richard Jenkins an Oscar nomination, and 2011's "Win Win," starring Paul Giamatti as a sad-sack wrestling coach. "The Cobbler," currently shooting in New York City, could become Sandler's first dramatic role since 2007's "Reign Over Me."

 THE DEAL Spike Lee's new movie, due in theaters Wednesday, is an action-thriller about an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) trying to find out why he was kept in captivity for 20 years. So why does it have fans of Korean cinema in a dither? It's a remake of Park Chan-wook's 2003 original (itself based on a Japanese manga), which won the Grand Prix at Cannes and has since become a kind of modern classic of Asian pulp cinema. It screens this weekend in a digital restoration.
