As the countdown to the Dec. 18 release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in the United States approaches, "Star Wars" mania is increasing, Newsday's Rafer Guzmán reports.

Theaters around the country have announced "Star Wars" marathons showing all seven films beginning Dec. 17 and ending with the newest on Dec. 18.

Participating local theaters include the AMC Loews Raceway 10 in Westbury and the Island 16 Cinema De Lux in Holtsville.

Meanwhile, advance tickets for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" went on sale Monday night following the television broadcast of a new trailer for the film.
