'Suicide Squad' trailer posted by Warner Bros. following leaked version

Jared Leto as The Joker in the forthcoming "Suicide Squad."
Following a pirated version that leaked online over the weekend, Warner Bros. posted the official trailer for "Suicide Squad" via YouTube Monday.
The trailer offers a glimpse of Jared Leto as The Joker and several other stars in outlandish roles, including Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.
A superhero film whose heroes are supervillains, "Suicide Squad" focuses on a team of bad guys -- "the worst of the worst" -- who undertake a dangerous assignment for the government with the promise of having their criminal records expunged. The premise owes something to Robert Aldrich's 1967 classic "The Dirty Dozen," about a group of violent felons sent on a suicide mission during World War II, although in this film Viola Davis steps into Lee Marvin's role as the commanding officer.
The trailer doesn't make the movie look light-hearted. The visuals are dark, with a Gothic-rock flair that verges on horror-flick chic, and the theme song has a mournful tone. Written and directed by David Ayer ("Fury") and based on the DC comics, "Suicide Squad" opens Aug. 5, 2016.
