Faster than a speeding bullet, "Superman" is about to fly back into movie theaters.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the 1978 classic that starred Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, Fathom Events will present screenings of the movie nationwide — including at the Regal Westbury 12, Regal Deer Park 16 and IMAX, and Regal 5 Hampton Bays theaters — on Nov. 25, 27 and Dec. 3. Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas and Island 16 Cinema de Lux in Holtsville will also present "Superman" at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27 only.
But Reeve won't be the only S-caped crusader audiences will see. As a bonus feature, the rarely seen 1941 cartoon "Mechanical Monsters" from renowned animator Max Fleischer, whose studio also made the Popeye cartoons, will be presented. Game show aficionados are sure to recognize the rich voice of Bud Collyer, who went on to host "To Tell the Truth" and "Beat the Clock" as Clark Kent/Superman.
