Chris Rock is Oscar’s golden guy this year, but do you remember what happened the last time he hosted? If not, here’s a reminder.

  • A DIVERSE UNIVERSE Eleven years ago, Jamie Foxx won the best actor prize for “Ray” (beating out Don Cheadle for “Hotel Rwanda”), and Morgan Freeman took supporting actor for “Million Dollar Baby.” Also nominated were Cheadle’s co-star Sophie Okonedo for supporting actress, “Maria Full of Grace” star Catalina Sandino Moreno for best actress and Foxx for his supporting role in “Collateral.”
  • HEEEERE’S JOHNNY — AND RAY Rock and Whoopi Goldberg saluted five-time Oscar host Johnny Carson, who died in January 2005. Later on, Foxx paid tribute during his acceptance speech, to singer Ray Charles, who died in June 2004.
  • THE PENN IS MIGHTIER . . . Sean Penn was not amused by Rock’s jokes about Jude Law. (“He’s in everything. Even the movie’s he’s not acting in, if you look at the credits, he made cupcakes or something.”) Penn started his best actress presenter’s gig by saying “Forgive my compromised sense of humor, but I did want to answer our host’s question about who Jude Law is. He’s one of our finest actors.”
