'Wizard of Oz' back in theaters for one week in September

Audiences will be able to follow the Yellow Brick Road into theaters on Sept. 20, with the 75th-anniversary rerelease of "The Wizard of Oz" in IMAX 3D.
Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that the beloved musical fantasy starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley and Frank Morgan would play theatrically for one week and then be issued on DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and UltraViolet home media on Oct. 1.
"This film revolutionized the use of color and special effects in cinema, and we're excited to add another 'first' -- bringing this timeless classic to moviegoers through the power of The IMAX 3D Experience," Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAX Entertainment, said in a statement.
The 1939 film was nominated for six Academy Awards, winning for best song (Harold Arlen and E. Y. "Yip" Harburg's "Over the Rainbow") and original score (by Herbert Stothart).
