For their debut album, "Feel You're Different" (Rock Ridge), Lights Resolve decided to channel their inner teenagers.

"We went back to when we were 13 on this record," says singer-guitarist Matthew Reich, citing the influence of Nirvana, Green Day and Oasis. "It's really raw and hard rock, but it's something you can hum along to."

It's a change from the Lawrence-based band's earlier, more pop-leaning work, but it reflected the way the trio -- Reich, drummer Neil Saini and bassist Luke Daniels -- was feeling.

"We had written all the songs and they just turned out to be different," Reich says, adding that the new sound fit in perfectly with Bethpage-based producer Mike Sapone, best known for his work with Taking Back Sunday and Brand New. "It's a different vibe, but we had been through the wringer."

The hard-hitting "Happens Every Day," with its wild bass line and its mix of Jane's Addiction and U2, will be the first single and video.

"It's a new direction, but it all started with the live show," says Reich, who has opened for everyone from Dashboard Confessional on its arena tours to Panic! At the Disco and Phantom Planet. The band has also made a name for itself on the "Rock Band" video game, with more than 500,000 downloads for its song "Dreaming of Love."

"What you hear is what you get live," Reich says. "We wanted to make this record exactly how we wanted to make it and we spent all our savings to do it, but it's there."

Lights Resolve plays Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North 6th St., Brooklyn, at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $13 through Ticketmaster, 800-745-3000,
