Before the lady went gaga
What a difference a few years can make.
Footage of a young singer-pianist named Stefani Germanotta posted on the All Things Fangirl blog shows a much tamer Lady Gaga in 2005, playing Ultra Violet Live, New York University's annual talent show.
Considering her outlandish style of late, including last week's Grammy outfits, this clip is a great trip back in the old time machine. The future Gaga sits unadorned, wearing a stylish but hardly outrageous green dress at a piano and sings two original songs - "Captivated" and "Electric Kiss." She's more Tori Amos than her current glam persona.
Alas, Germanotta ended up taking third place in the competition, although the judges gushed over her ("Oh, my gosh, she's fantastic," one said). One even said, "Norah Jones, look out."
