Billy Joel, wife Alexis welcome 2nd baby girl, Remy Anne
Billy Joel and his wife, Alexis Roderick, have welcomed their second child.
Singer-songwriter Joel, 68, posted a photo on his official site, showing himself in a hospital room happily cradling a little girl, her eyes open and her fingers intertwined. The caption read: “Billy Joel and wife Alexis welcomed their second daughter, Remy Anne, on Sunday, October 22nd. Remy Anne Joel entered the world at 7:50PM weighing 7lbs, 3 oz. Billy and Alexis are also parents to Della Rose, 2.”
The post went on to note that both Joel and his singer-songwriter daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 31, with second wife Christie Brinkley, “were both at Alexis’ side as she gave birth at New York University Hospital in New York. Alexis and Remy are doing well and everyone is thrilled.”
This is the couple’s second child. Daughter Della Rose was born Aug. 12, 2015, just over a month after Joel and Roderick married in a July 4 ceremony at his estate on Centre Island.
Born in the Bronx and raised in Hicksville, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Gershwin Prize recipient was married to Elizabeth Weber Small from 1973 until their divorce in 1982. He went on to marry supermodel Brinkley in March 1985, but they divorced nine years later. Joel then married food critic and cookbook author Katie Lee in October 2004. In 2010, a year after he and Lee separated, Joel began dating Roderick, then a senior risk officer in the Garden City office of the financial institution Morgan Stanley.
A six-time Grammy Award-winner who has sold an estimated 150 million records, Joel has played a monthly residency at Madison Square Garden since January 2014, with his 48th show in that string scheduled for Jan. 11.
