Bob Dylan set for Jones Beach

Bob Dylan performs with his band in Beijing in this file photo. After nearly five decades of singing about a war that continues to haunt a generation of Americans, Dylan is finally getting his chance to see Vietnam at peace. The iconic folk singer and songwriter was set to play a special concert in the former Saigon on Sunday evening, where he's expected to belt out some of his classic anti-war tunes, nearly 36 years after the Vietnam War ended. Bob Dylan 's Never Ending Tour will stop at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 13, with Leon Russell opening.
Dylan made headlines last month for his concerts in China, but in a rare statement to correct reports that he had been banned from performing previously or had been censored (both untrue, he says) he also addressed upcoming biographies. “Everybody knows by now that there's a gazillion books on me either out or coming out in the near future,” he wrote. “So I'm encouraging anybody who's ever met me, heard me or even seen me, to get in on the action and scribble their own book. You never know, somebody might have a great book in them.”
