Christina Aguilera has issued a statement about her, um, reworking of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at last night's Super Bowl.
“I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place," said Aguilera, who chose to sing the national anthem live instead of lip-synching it. "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."
It's been a tough couple of years for Xtina, whose “Bionic” album underperformed and she had to cancel her tour last summer to prepare for her movie “Burlesque,” which also underperformed. Her personal life has also been strained as she filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Jordan Bratman, in October.
