A lot has changed for Demi Lovato since she was at Nassau Coliseum last year.

She left "The X Factor," the show that landed its biggest crop of hopefuls ever at the Nassau Coliseum audition, shortly before the singing competition was cancelled. She joined the cast of "Glee," playing Dani, Santana's girlfriend. She became a best-selling author after writing "Staying Strong." And, oh yeah, she's launched the "Neon Lights Tour," which stops at Nassau Coliseum Tuesday night.

The tour is promoting her fourth album "Demi" and is named after her current single, the dance-pop-tinged "Neon Lights."

"It's just going to be a big party," she said of the tour in a recent Recording Academy performance. "I'll probably have some intimate moments where it's just stripped down? It'll just be me and a piano."

WHAT CRITICS SAY

"There was no choreography and only one costume change but you don't need shiny distractions when you can belt out songs like Demi and connect with the crowd on such an emotional level."

-- Mike Wass, Idolator

"At just 65 minutes long, it didn't have a whole lot of time for the audience's eyes to glaze over. But the overall feel of the show just lacked spark. Lovato's no gangbusters performer. . . . [The] performance consisted largely of her strolling the stage while singing."

-- John J. Moser, The Morning Call (Allentown, Pa.)

"Lovato does not yet possess the catalogue of her obvious female pop-rock forebearers, Kelly Clarkson and P!nk, but now has enough rock-solid singles and crowd-pleasing album tracks to compose a lean, covers-free set list."

-- Jason Lipshutz, Billboard
