Summertime and the touring is easy. Well, maybe not so much.
As Dream Theater -- the hard-rock veterans with roots in Kings Park -- head out on their summer tour, the guys' thoughts turn to loved ones. "It's difficult being away from my home, wife and kids," singer-guitarist John Petrucci said in a statement this week. "Everything reminds me of them!"
Petrucci is not alone.
Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider fielded a fan query on Twitter a few days ago. "What I loathe on the road?" he tweeted from @deesnider. "Downtime! I ROCK, I don't party. So I sit in my room waiting. Some want to get away from their fam . . . I love mine!"
Meanwhile, Estelle is going one better. The soul singer will let fans in on what it's like on tour with a new YouTube series, "Life on the Road." The series (search "life on the road" and "Estelle" at youtube.com) gives a taste, "from the bus breakdowns to the impromptu concerts to shopping and run-ins with fans."
Dream Theater plays the Paramount in Huntington July 18-19.
