With a huge sales week for his new album “Divide” already assured, Ed Sheeran is now turning his sights on a massive North American arena tour, which includes two nights at Barclays Center on Sept. 29-30.
Sheeran’s single “Shape of You” has already reached No. 1 and industry experts expect “Divide,” released Friday, to top the charts as well with the biggest sales week of the year so far.
The British singer-songwriter has been all over New York this week, with a secret show for SiriusXM Radio on Monday night at The Studio at Webster Hall, one for iHeartRadio Tuesday night and a “Today” show appearance on Wednesday.
His North American arena tour is set to begin in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 29 and run through Oct. 6 in Nashville. Tickets for his Barclays Center shows go on sale at 10 a.m. March 17 through Ticketmaster. Fans who register at edsheeran.ontouraccess.com by Friday may be eligible to purchase pre-sale tickets starting at 10 a.m. Monday.
Sheeran’s album broke Spotify streaming records on Friday and over the weekend broke the 1 billion streams barrier on YouTube, thanks to the success of lead singles “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” as well as releasing audio versions of all the other tracks on YouTube.
