Elton John has moved up the NYCB Live’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum date on his final tour to Oct. 9, making it the first metropolitan area concert of the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.”

John, 70, announced last month that he plans to retire from touring after one last outing – a massive, 300-show, three-year event, set to begin in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 8.

Originally, John’s Long Island date was set for the fall of 2019, with his first area appearances scheduled for Madison Square Garden on Oct. 18-19 and Nov. 8. However, citing “overwhelming demand,” John added numerous shows Tuesday, including the new Long Island show and a second show at Barclays Center on March 9, 2019.

Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 through Ticketmaster. American Express cardholders can purchase presale tickets starting at 10 a.m. Thursday. Registration is open now for TicketMaster’s Verified Fan program, which will allow fans the chance to purchase presale tickets starting at 10 a.m. Feb. 13.

John said he was tired of traveling and that he wanted to prioritize spending more time with his sons, 5-year-old Elijah and 7-year-old Zachary, as well as his husband, David Furnish. After his final tour, John said he wants to focus on recording more albums and working on more Broadway shows like “The Lion King.”
