Wham, bam, no thank you, ma’am.

Bulgarians, it seems, are a picky lot when it comes to holiday songs. “Last Christmas" -- the 1984 tune by the British pop duo Wham! -- was voted most annoying Christmas song ever in an online poll. The survey, run by the DDB Advertising Agency in Sofia, Bulgaria, collected 28,110 votes in this Scrooge-like endeavor.

George Michael’s and Andrew Ridgeley’s song earned almost 19 percent of the vote. But wait, it gets worse: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” came in second place for most irksome Christmas tune, with more than 15 percent of the vote.

The agency’s creative director, according to The Associated Press, urged radio stations not to include the poll’s top 10 winners (losers?) in their Christmas song rotations if they wanted to keep their listeners.

Others on the poll, found at www.nohohoho.org, include Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock,” Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow,” Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” and Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time.”

Ouch.
