Foo Fighters, one of many bands that canceled or postponed concerts in and around Paris following the terror attack of Nov. 13, has released a free EP and accompanying letter as a tribute to the city's citizens.

In an open letter dated Nov. 19, posted at SaintCeciliaEP.com, Foo Fighers frontman Dave Grohl wrote that he was prefacing an earlier missive he'd penned in a Berlin hotel room while on tour. "I felt the need to write this foreword in light of the heartbreaking tragedies of Nov. 13th, as this project has now taken on an entirely different tone. As has everything, it seems. . . ."

Grohl, 46, went on to say he hoped the five-song EP "Saint Cecilia," originally intended simply as a thank-you to fans, might help "remind us that music is life, and that hope and healing go hand in hand with song. That much can never be taken away."

The download page, which went live Sunday night -- the feast day of the Catholic patron saint of musicians -- includes a link for donations to victims of the attack.
