Gianni Paci goes straight to video

Gianni Paci believes the music world has changed.

The singer-songwriter from Oyster Bay isn't focusing on putting his music on sale or completing a full album. He's making videos.

"That's the way I want to release my music -- through videos," Paci says. "I think that's the best way to get attention."

The strategy is certainly working so far. His new video, "Too Good to Be True," shot at his alma mater Oyster Bay High School, debuted on BlackBook magazine's website.

"I feel like that the music business structure is changing and that's the way things are going," says Paci, who graduated from NYU with a degree in musicology and a minor in entertainment business. The 22-year-old is getting a chance to put his studies to work on his own career.

"Too Good to Be True," produced by Eren Cannata at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, sits on the alternative side of pop. Between Paci's distinctive voice and the song's catchy melody, the chorus of "Brighter than a shooting star, faster than a moving car speeding down the boulevard, get the message through" sticks with you.

Paci says he is always writing new music and has an album's worth of songs already completed from his sessions at Cove City. However, fans will have to wait until the videos are done to hear them.

"It's a different world from what it was five years ago, much less 10 or 20 years ago," Paci says. "I just feel the business is evolving and this is the way it's coming together."
