It's time to celebrate “Glee”'s bench strength.
Sure, it looks likely that Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith), Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Puck (Mark Salling) will all graduate from William McKinley High School next season (though whether they graduate from the show remains to be seen). But there's plenty of talent on the “Glee” bench, as the show yesterday at Nassau Coliseum showed.
Artie (Kevin McHale) was amazing. Not only did he shout out Strong Island and handle Michael Jackson's “P.Y.T.” well, but “Safety Dance” – where he goes into a dream sequence and can leave his wheelchair – was fun and touching.
Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) really showed off her voice on Florence + the Machine's “Dog Days Are Over” and could rock out in the future. (It was also great to hear the East Meadow native say, "It's so great to be home" on the stage where she once saw Britney Spears and 'N Sync).
In some ways, Santana (Naya Rivera) could really steal the show, bringing down the house with Mercedes (Amber Riley) on “River Deep, Mountain High” and then tearing things up with “Valerie” on her own.
Of course, there will also be new additions, including Charice and the winner of “The Glee Project” reality show, so it looks like “Glee” and the “Glee Live” tour will be just fine.
