Harry Styles, Live Nation pledge gun-safety donation

As the tragic mass-shooting deaths of schoolchildren and teachers at Uvalde, Texas, last week continue to reverberate, pop star Harry Styles and concert promoter Live Nation are pledging to donate more than $1 million to the firearm-regulation advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.
"End gun violence," wrote the Grammy Award-winning English singer, 28, on Twitter and Instagram over the weekend. "Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at the latest in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. On our North American tour, we will be partnering with Everytown who work to end gun violence, donating to support their efforts, and sharing their suggested action items."
He added, "Firearms are the #1 leading cause of death for American children and teens," a statistic borne out by a research letter published last month by the New England Journal of Medicine. Three University of Michigan scientists, analyzing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, found that firearm-related injuries, as of 2020, had become the leading cause of death in persons age 1 to 19, overtaking motor-vehicle crashes.
Styles additionally urged fans to "Text 'ACT' to 64433 to join Everytown in the fight to end gun violence."
Live Nation on its Instagram page said the company "is proud to join Harry Styles in matching his donation to Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund — equalling over $1 million and counting."
Styles' "Love on Tour 2022" begins overseas June 11 and comes to North America on Aug. 20, starting with 15 dates at Madison Square Garden. His third album, "Harry's House," was released May 20.
