After a couple of misfires to promote her upcoming album “4,” Beyonce pulls out the big guns for her new single “Best Thing I Never Had” (Columbia).

Written by Babyface, “Best Thing” is the latest in B's run of wronged-but-triumphant midtempo R&B ballads and, like its predecessors, it will soon be omnipresent on radio. It's not quite “Irreplaceable,” but it does feature some big vocals and sassy lines, including the proper use of “good looking out” and “Thank God, I found the good in goodbye.”

Let's just put that iffy "1+1" out of our heads now.
