Heart to release first new album in 10 years: 'Really happy'

A classic rock band will soon release its first new album in 10 years.

Heart has finished recording a full-length studio album, singer-guitarist Nancy Wilson confirmed in an interview with Gold Derby. She said the follow-up to 2016’s “Beautiful Broken” LP is “really, really strong” and features original music written with her sister, lead singer Ann Wilson, and the group’s touring lineup.

“We wrote a bunch of new songs and recorded down in Nashville with the players that we just played the last tour with. It was like a secondhand thing with each other because we’ve played so many live shows, so the album was pretty much recorded live,” Nancy Wilson said. “I’m really happy. It really feels like a Heart record.”

A release date has not been announced. Wilson told Gold Derby that the album will be “delivered” by the end of August and then a rollout will be “strategized” along with their world tour, a documentary film, and an upcoming biopic.

Wilson previously hinted the album could be Heart’s last full-length record, calling it “a victory lap out of our legacy.” She and Ann co-founded the band in 1973 and recently marked the 50th anniversary of Heart’s 1975 debut.

A Heart biopic has long been in the works at Amazon Films with a script written by Carrie Brownstein, of Sleater-Kinney and “Portlandia” fame. Nancy Wilson said last year she’d love to see acting sisters Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning play the Wilson siblings, but casting has not been announced.

Heart, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, is a female-led hard rock band known for hits like “Alone,” “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “These Dreams” and “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You.”

Ann Wilson, 76, who was successfully treated for cancer in 2024, also leads the side project Tripsitter. Nancy Wilson, 72, is additionally known for composing songs for films like “Almost Famous,” “Jerry Maguire” and “Elizabethtown,” directed by her former husband, Cameron Crowe.
