In the groove on Record Store Day

Records are coming 'round again, and not just on turntables.
This Saturday, fans of vinyl can get their groove on as Long Island celebrates the fifth annual Record Store Day, a nationwide lovefest to LPs and 45s.
"Vinyl is just a warmer, more natural, less clinical sound than digital," said Joseph Ostermeier, owner of Infinity Records in Massapequa Park.
But this isn't just a day for folks who grew up listening to vinyl in the '60s and '70s to wax nostalgic as they pore over record bins and shelves -- participating stores expect teens and 20-somethings to do the bulk of the buying.
"Five or 10 years ago, kids would come into the store with their parents, who would say: 'See this is a 45, this is a record. This is what Mommy and Daddy used to listen to before you were born,' " said David Bernstein, a salesman at Mr. Cheapo CD & Record Exchange in Mineola.
"Now the kids grow up and they're teenagers and they want the records for themselves. It's the size, the scope, it's all the lyrics printed out. And I'm happy about it."
Collectors of vinyl should also be happy about the events, exclusives and specials many of the participating shops have in store for Saturday.
