John Fogerty is a rock and roll rarity, an artist with a distinctive singing voice as well as a distinctive writing voice. He gets to show them both off on his new "Wrote a Song for Everyone" (Vanguard) album, a collection of some of his best-known Creedence Clearwater Revival material reworked with some of today's biggest stars alongside some new impressive songs, especially the single "Mystic Highway." He uses a breakdown with Zac Brown Band to take "Bad Moon Rising" in a different direction and grunges up "Fortunate Son" with the Foo Fighters, while Jennifer Hudson takes "Proud Mary" to another level.
