Jones Beach hosts Summer Music Festival

Maze, featuring Frankie Beverly, has steadily built a reputation for blending soul and jazz. Hailing from Philadelphia, Maze developed a fan base that has grown over the years after getting its start opening for Marvin Gaye in the mid-'70s.

Although the group never crossed over to mainstream success, Maze gained respect and critical acclaim for such songs as "Back in Stride," "Too Many Games" and "Can't Get Over You." The song "Joy & Pain" was significantly popular in Britain, while "Before I Let Go" became the group's signature tune in the States.

One of the original divas, Patti LaBelle is still going strong at the age of 68. She led the disco parade with "Lady Marmalade" in the '70s, continued her reign in the '80s with pop hits "New Attitude," "Stir It Up" and "On My Own," and solidified her legendary status with R&B dance tunes "The Right Kinda Lover" and "When You Talk About Love" in the '90s.

Aside from her music career, LaBelle has added bestselling author to her list of accolades with three cookbooks and two self-help titles under her belt. She even sells her own barbecue sauces and marinades.
