Kanye West returns to MTV VMAs after Swift interruption
Maybe it's a "Power" play?
A year after interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West is planning to return to the show next month, Us magazine reports.
Us learned from a source that the 33-year-old Grammy-winning rapper will perform on the show, which airs Sept. 12.
West's fifth album is expected to drop in the fall. Just last week, he unveiled a groundbreaking new music video for his latest single, "Power." So an appearance on the highly publicized VMAs could work to his advantage.
Last year, West charged the stage to complain as Swift accepted her award for best female video after winning a category that included Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé did one of the best videos of all time," the rapper said, interrupting the country-pop teen sensation's acceptance speech, much to everyone's confusion. Swift did her best to recover, but quickly left the stage before finishing her speech. After West's outburst, even the mention of his name drew boos from the crowd.
A rep for the West and MTV had no comment.
