Lady Gaga took to “The Tonight Show” last night, armed with her three Grammys filled with M&Ms, to explain her new single “Born This Way,” which seems destined to debut at No. 1 this week after only three days of sales.

Ga says the single is about empowerment, adding “It's never too late to harness your confidence, your inner superstar and say, 'I was born this way. I'm gonna get to my destination.'”

She also addressed the Madonna controversy and the song's resemblance to “Express Yourself” and “Vogue.” Ga says she's a huge Madonna fan and that she received a blessing from the superstar.

“Well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single," Gaga said. "And if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be."

Gaga also said that her “Born This Way” album, due out in May, is eclectic, with most of the songs sounding different from the single. Oh, and The Egg, is "a vessel," got it?
