Word came later in the evening: rocker Joan Jett had snuck into Huntington’s Oheka Castle before the red carpet parade had even begun.

And then, Lou Reed didn’t even show up until after the red carpet ended.

But those who did make the walk – everyone from the Shangri-Las’ Mary Weiss to legendary WLIR radio programmer Denis McNamara to jazz drummer Roy Haynes – had fun.

“I’ve had similar feelings before a show at My Father’s Place or the Nassau Coliseum,” said McNamara, who was later inducted by Jett. “A castle is a rough place to do something like this.”
