Apparently, all Eminem has to do is offer an apology and his fans reward him with a No. 1 hit. "Not Afraid" (Shady/Interscope) is yet another self-loathing mishmash in an increasingly repetitive line of singles that has flashes of brilliance and long stretches of bland. "Let's be honest, that last 'Relapse' CD was 'eh,' " he rhymes in a moment of clarity. Unfortunately, the cliched chorus of "I'm not afraid to take a stand, everybody come take my hand" is just as "eh."
