Long Island Music Hall of Fame will be rocking
The third time is apparently the charm.
For the third Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Award Ceremony and Fundraising Gala at Oheka Castle in Huntington Tuesday, organizers are starting to benefit from the previous ceremonies.
This time, all of the inductees, except the late Morton Gould, are expected to attend - including Lou Reed, John Zorn, and Eric B. and Rakim - says James Faith, chairman of the Hall of Fame. Also expected are Joan Jett, Stray Cat Lee Rocker, Eddie Money and Laurie Anderson, who is also Reed's wife.
"This year, everyone seems more on board," Faith says. "Maybe more people are looking for something to cheer and are ready to feel good about where they come from."
Proceeds from the event go to the Hall of Fame, which is working on opening its permanent home in Port Jefferson, and its scholarship and education programs for area musicians.
This year's class shows the eclectic music history of the area, the Hall of Fame counts Brooklyn and Queens as Long Island. Here's a look at the inductees (aside from My Father's Place and Denis McNamara):
OSCAR BRAND
HAILS FROM Great Neck by way of Winnipeg, Canada
BEST KNOWN FOR Being a true Renaissance man, winning two Peabody Awards for his TV shows, composing Broadway's "A Joyful Noise" and music for movies ("The Fox"), writing seven books, recording more than 90 albums, curating the Songwriters Hall of Fame and teaching at Hofstra University.

CAROLE AND PAULA
