Long Island’s Movielife working on ‘special’ album

The Movielife is ready for its sequel.
The Long Island scene heroes were the first of the area’s indie bands to land a major-label deal back at the dawn of the millennium — the ones who launched the parade of record company execs in Merrick.
And now, 14 years after the release of “Forty Hour Train Back to Penn,” the band has signed to respected Rise Records and is working on an album to be released this fall.
“It’s not easy visualizing what a Movielife record would sound like in 2017,” singer-guitarist Vinnie Caruana, known more recently as a solo artist and for work with I Am The Avalanche, said in a statement. “We wrote and wrote and wrote, and got to an amazing place.”
After Caruana and guitarist Brandon Reilly released the promising song “Future Feeling (Afraid of Drugs)” last year, they decided to move forward with an album and tour.
“This is not a comeback record,” Caruana says. “This is something truly special. This album is a project we are both immensely proud of and can’t wait to share it with the world. Full steam ahead.”
The Movielife plays Brooklyn Bazaar on May 5 and Amityville Music Hall on May 7.
