Singer Lorde postponed two dates on her "Solar Power" North American tour because she was feeling under the weather.

The 25-year-old New Zealand pop star announced over the weekend she would reschedule her Friday date at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, and her Saturday show at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., due to a case of "horrendous laryngitis."

Lorde, born Ella Yelich-O'Connor, announced the first postponement in a statement on the Mohegan Sun website: "Connecticut — these past couple days I’ve been pushing through some horrendous laryngitis, and i regret to inform you that my voice hasn’t sufficiently recovered to be able to play the show for you tomorrow(4/15). I’m so, so sorry. I don’t take postponing a show lightly. I’ve tried everything, and unfortunately it’s physically impossible for me to sing much of the set. Please accept my sincere apologies. All well besides that, and absolutely frothing to party with you when I am able. Rescheduling info to come." No new date was given, but she is scheduled to begin the second leg of her American tour in August.

The Anthem's Twitter account also posted a message from the singer for their Saturday concert: "DC — Unfortunately, due to continued illness, I am postponing our show. I am so, so sorry. My voice is still a wreck, and I don’t want to give a less-than-great performance. I love playing in DC, and I’m gutted it’s you guys I’m letting down." In a subsequent tweet, she announced an Aug. 29 make-up date for the show.

Lorde began her American "Solar Power" tour earlier this month in Nashville, Tennessee, and is scheduled to play back-to-back shows Monday and Tuesday at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan.
