Lady Gaga's first show at Madison Square Garden last week was predictably star-studded, with everyone from Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to figure skater Johnny Weir and power couple Michelle Pfeiffer and TV creator David E. Kelley in attendance.

But it was Paul McCartney, along with East Ender girlfriend Nancy Shevell, who gained the most attention from Gaga's fans. In the odd quiet before Gaga's set began, her Little Monsters started chanting, "Paul! Paul! Paul!" as The Cute One good-naturedly posed for pictures until the crowds around him grew so large security stepped in to block their view.

Macca wasn't there for just a photo op - or HBO op, since the entire thing was filmed for a Gaga special due in May - he came to party. Video of him and Shevell dancing to Gaga quickly went viral last week, while those seated behind the couple got to see them kissing during the concert.

Unlike many celebrities who leave the show early to slip out more safely through the crowd, McCartney and Shevell stayed to the end - no doubt to see Gaga's "Born This Way" in one of its first live performances.

When Gaga announced that she had a special treat at the show, some hoped McCartney would join her onstage. What would they sing together? Well, given the latest kerfuffle over Gaga's new single, how about "Lady Madonna"? Unfortunately, that was not to be. Maybe next time Macca will put his paws up at least.
