Baldwin's Melanie Martinez unveils debut single, 'Dollhouse'

Melanie Martinez, the Baldwin singer-songwriter with the two-toned hair who made a name for herself on the third season of “The Voice,” is turning heads again with her debut single and video “Dollhouse” (Melanie Martinez).

“Support my girl,” Tweeted her former coach Adam Levine, once “Dollhouse” hit iTunes on Monday and promptly cracked the Top 20 on the iTunes alternative chart. “Check out her new single!”

Martinez is set to headline Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan on Saturday. Tickets are $15 through LiveNation.

“Dollhouse,” which Martinez co-wrote with Kinetics and One Love, the team behind B.o.B.’s “Airplanes,” is a brutally honest depiction of a family falling apart set to a spare dance beat. The combination positions Martinez as an American version of Lorde. She’s an 18-year-old writing songs for and about teenagers in an authentic, memorable way.

“Throw on your dress and put on your doll faces,” she sings. “Everyone thinks that we're perfect. Please don't let them look through the curtains.”
