Memories of a Phish, Insane Clown Posse fan

Nathan Rabin is one of the bravest guys around.

He actually hung out with them. And by them, we mean the Juggalos and the phans, two of the most antithetical devotees of two of the most antithetical groups -- Insane Clown Posse and Phish, respectively.

The result is "You Don't Know Me but You Don't Like Me: Phish, Insane Clown Posse, and My Misadventures With Two of Music's Most Maligned Tribes" (Scribner, $16). The book, as Rabin -- head writer for The Onion's entertainment section -- pens in the introduction, is "the rambling tale of a man who followed Phish and Insane Clown Posse for two years and lost his way, whose mind and mission got hopelessly scrambled somewhere along the glorious, hazardous road and who just barely managed to crawl his way back home."

"You Don't Know Me" is also a love story -- Rabin's future wife was a fan of the jammiest of all jam bands, Phish; and the author and his then-girlfriend would marvel at the video for "Miracles" by the Detroit rap-metal crazies of ICP.

The book is due June 11 -- just in time for the 14th annual Gathering of the Juggalos and/or the 2013 Phish tour.
