NKOTB, Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees head to Nassau Coliseum

Boy band mania doesn't just afflict tweens.
And New Kids on the Block set out to prove that once again Tuesday by announcing a national arena tour, dubbed “The Package Tour,” that includes a stop at Nassau Coliseum on June 1. The shrieks of approval at “The View,” where the “Right Stuff” group broke the news along with openers Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees, confirmed it.
“If we learned anything from the tour with Backstreet Boys, it's that we do have to bring the greatest package that we possibly can to the fans,” NKOTB's Donnie Wahlberg said on “The View.” “In these tough economic times, we figured what's better than [groups with] about 250 million albums sold, about 20 No. 1 records, 40 Top 10 hits.”
NKOTB will be supporting its forthcoming album “10,” which hits stores on April 2, featuring its new single “Remix (I Like The)” which goes on sale at iTunes on Jan. 28.
The tour will be the first in 12 years for 98 Degrees, who reunited last year after a decade apart. “We've been so inspired in our career by both of these groups,” said Nick Lachey, who said the Cincinnati group is also working on new material. “It's surreal for us to a part of a package like this.”
Boyz II Men, the biggest-selling R&B group of all time, will take a break from its upcoming residency at The Mirage in Las Vegas to do the tour.
Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on Feb. 2. American Express cardholders can start buying tickets at 10 a.m. Friday.
