OK Go is gone from their record label

OK Go has OK gone.

The rockers and YouTube sensations, best known for their synchronized treadmill-jumping viral videos, have split with EMI Records after a dust-up over the distribution of their new video, "This Too Shall Pass." Though the band's videos have racked up tens of millions of views on YouTube alone, when it came time for the release of "This Too Shall Pass," EMI would not allow the YouTube clip to be embedded on any other site, halting any chance of its going viral like its predecessors. (A second version of the video was allowed to be embedded and received nearly 7 million views in a week.)

After the fight went public, the label and the band decided to go their separate ways, effective April 1. OK Go has formed its own label, Paracadute, and will take over marketing and distribution of its new album, "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky."

"We'd like to thank the people who have worked so hard on our behalf," said OK Go singer Damian Kulash. "And we'd like to thank our fans for making this choice an easy one for us."

The band hits the area April 28 with an appearance on "Letterman" and carries on through that weekend, with shows at the Music Hall of Williamsburg April 29 and 30 and an appearance at the Bamboozle Festival May 2.
