Phil Collins clears up retirement rumors
So, Phil Collins is taking a break from music to spend more time with his young 'uns. He is not -- repeat not -- leaving so he can "dive full time into my interest for the Alamo," the British drummer, singer and actor posted on his website last week.
Seems Collins believes he is the reincarnation of an Alamo survivor, thanks to a Texas clairvoyant a few years ago. He's studied the history of the 1836 battle -- where 1,500 Mexican troops wiped out about 200 Texans in a San Antonio mission during the Texas Revolution -- and collects artifacts. So now we know why he guest-starred in that 1985 episode of "Miami Vice" with detectives Tubbs and Crockett -- maybe he thought Sonny was somehow related to American frontier hero Davy Crockett, who was among those who perished in the battle.
But you'd think if any English superstar would have a fixation on the Alamo it would be David Bowie, who was born David Jones. In fact, Bowie's wife, Iman, has an ankle tattoo of a Bowie knife -- the weapon named after Jim Bowie, another hero of the battle, of course.
