'rose ave.' review: You+Me, a lovely folk collaboration by Pink and Dallas Green

You+me's "rose ave." (RCA) -- the collaboration between pop superstar Pink and indie-rock's Dallas Green, best known for his work as City and Colour -- is filled with structural surprises.
Their voices fit together seamlessly. Their shared admiration of Sade, seen on the stark, piano-driven version of "No Ordinary Love," is stunning, as it goes from smoldering to haunting. Their take on acoustic blues, especially in "Love Gone Wrong," is poignant, while the intricate harmonies on "You and Me" showcase their famous voices in a new context.
The only drawback is when the surprises run out and they sound oddly average -- something that never happens to them separately.
