Taylor Swift’s “1989” went platinum in one week.

Yes, it only took Swift seven days to sell 1.287 million copies of her new album, according to Nielsen SoundScan, landing her the No. 1 album this week and giving her the biggest sales week since 2002, when Eminem’s “The Eminem Show” sold 1.322 million copies in seven days.

Of course, that was back when platinum albums were much more commonplace. Swift’s “1989” became 2014’s first album to break the million-sales barrier, aside from the “Frozen” soundtrack, which has sold 3.2 million albums this year, according to Billboard.

Let’s put that in perspective: Swift was able to sell more copies last week than any other artist – including Beyoncé, whose “Beyoncé” album was released late last year – has sold cumulatively in the previous 10 months.

Swift is the only artist ever to rack up three million-selling weeks in her career. However, she did not break the record for biggest sales week ever for a woman, an honor still held by Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again,” which sold 1.319 million copies in 2000.
