The Horrors go 'Skying'

On their third album, "Skying" (XL), The Horrors become one of those bands that sounds immediately familiar, even at first listen. Faris Badwan's deadpan vocals and an ever-present My Bloody Valentine guitar haze tie the band's eclectic tastes together in a neat, retrofitted bow. The Morrissey drama and Johnny Marr guitar of "Changing the Rain" and "Dive In," the Echo and the Bunnymenny grandeur of "You Said," the nod to the Manchester shoegazers on "Oceans Burning" -- it all goes down so easy.
