Streetlight Circus may be Long Island’s best kept secret.

The Valley Stream rockers have played for thousands in amphitheaters and major festivals across the country, but area shows remain rare.

“Our fan base just happens to be stronger outside the area,” says singer-bassist David Shaw. “It’s OK. We like to get out there and tour. It’s great when we go down to Virginia and see all these people singing our songs back to us.”

With the release of its recent “Needle Down” (Streetlight Circus), though, the band has been playing around New York more often, including an intimate show at Spin Studios in Long Island City that will stream live on the band’s Facebook page July 14 and a headlining show at Arlene’s Grocery on July 15. That’s in addition to the group’s recent set opening for Vince Neil and a show opening for L.A. Guns at Gramercy Theater on Aug. 2.

“We want to push the new album,” Shaw says. “We thing it still has some legs. I’m more proud of these songs than any other recording. . . . The response has been great. We want to keep pushing it.”

Streetlight Circus plays Arlene’s Grocery, 95 Stanton St., Manhattan, at 7 p.m. July 15. Tickets are $10 through Ticketfly.
