VIDEO: Marsha Ambrosius, "Hope She Cheats on You"
Marsha Ambrosius, half of the under-appreciated hip-hop duo Floetry, has gone solo in more ways than one for her debut single “Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)” (J).
It’s a brainy, neo-soulful curse – including lines like “Hope that she Kim Kardashian-ed her way up, don’t know the difference between the touchdown and the lay-up.” But Ambrosius’ rich, sweet vocals make everything sound OK, even when she declares, “I’m a little bitter.”
Amnrosius has been a well-respected underdog for so long, maybe this kind of "Cheat" is what will get her the attention she deserves.
