Well, <a href="http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/backstage-pass-1.811987/pick-your-favorite-long-island-song-1.3762904" target="_blank">last week</a> wasn't even close.
Straylight Run (thanks to a <a href="https://twitter.com/ShaunWCooper/status/210138327855276032" target="_blank">well-placed Twitter request</a> from bassist Shaun Cooper) ran away with the vote last week, as readers' favorite from songs #91-100 of the <a href="http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/100-songs-long-islanders-should-know-1.3681254" target="_blank">100 Songs Every Long Islander Should Know</a>, landing a whopping 57 percent of the vote, with no other song even placing in double digits. (By the way, you can keep voting for the songs from <a href="http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/backstage-pass-1.811987/pick-your-favorite-long-island-song-1.3762904" target="_blank">last week</a> or any other week here on Backstage Pass. We'll tally all the votes at the end and see which of the songs was the readers' favorite.)
Will <a href="http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/100-songs-every-long-islander-should-know-1.3755030" target="_blank">this week's contest</a> be just as lopsided? Could be. Currently, Billy Joel's “The Downeaster 'Alexa'” is way out in front of Mountain's “Mississippi Queen.” But that could change.
