‘X Factor’ Recap: Finally, the Final 16!

Last week, “The X Factor” Top 16 reveal show was cut in half by a baseball rain delay. During the truncated show, we saw Britney Spears and L.A Reid each make their top four picks. Fox said it would re-air the episode in its entirety but last night's show picked up where last week’s left off, with Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell needing to choose their teams.
First up was Lovato, who has the Young Adults. The most emotional moment of the night came when Lovato told Jillian Jensen she was going home. At her first audition, Jensen revealed she was a victim of bullying and her poignant performance of “Who You Are” had everyone in tears. Seeing her go home was even more difficult since Lovato chose CeCe Frey (who I call “Leopard Girl” because her painted on spots) over Jensen. It was like the cool kid getting the last laugh. Frey can sing but she has a serious likability problem. However, Lovato believes she can “get America to fall in love with her." We’ll see.
Also sent home was Nick Youngerman, the 21-year-old rapping janitor from Ohio.

Jannel Garcia: At her first audition, the 18-year-old gave a sexy and confident performance of “Paris” by Grace Potter and the Noturnals. But her version of “I Kissed A Girl” during the “Judges’ Homes” round was timid. She needs to get back that confidence we first glimpsed at her first audition
Willie Jones: The Louisiana native needs to decide whether he wants to sing country or R&B.
Paige Thomas: Thomas has the complete package to be a contender for the $5 million prize. The question is, can she be consistent from week to week?
CeCe Frey: Can Frey get America to like her? Getting rid of the painted spots was a step in the right direction.
Next up was Cowell and The Groups.

LYRIC145: Bay Shore brothers Jemelle and Julien Joseph along with solo rapper Lyric Da Queen of Flint, Mich., skated through easily. Even though they were put together after the “Boot Camp” round, they have a lot of potential.
Emblem3: The laid back California trio have the charisma and attitude but they need to step up for the live shows.
LYLAS: This girl group made up of solo acts from the “Boot Camp” round will need to work on bonding as a group.
Sister C: The three siblings from Texas are good but can they show a bit more personality?
Sent home: Dope Crisis and Playback.
These eight join Britney’s Teens: Arin Ray, Beatrice Miller, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Diamond White along with L.A. Reid’s Over 25s: David Correy, Jason Brock, Tate Stevens and Vino Alan.
The live shows are set to begin Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. unless there is a game 7 of the World Series, which at the moment is scheduled at the same time. The elimination show will air the following Sunday. After baseball, “The X Factor” will return to its regular Wednesday-Thursday schedule.
