First he was seen, and now he's heard.
The newest trailer for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" that hit the web Tuesday marks the first time fans hear Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the evil dragon, Smaug. (We got a first glimpse of the creature when Warner Bros. Pictures released the teaser trailer in June.)
His voice is ominous, deep, and basically everything it should be as he taunts Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman): "Thief, where are you? Come now. Don't be shy. Step into the light."
Chills.
The film, in theaters Dec. 13, is the second installment in Peter Jackson's planned trilogy. The plotline will pick up where "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" left off last December.
