New trailer: 'X-Men' goes 'Mad Men'

The new trailer for "X-Men: First Class" has arrived, offering a glimpse at what looks like a Cold War-era origin story.

Set in the time of "Mad Men" (you'll hear President John F. Kennedy's 1962 speech on the Cuban missile crisis), the film goes back to the early days of arch-rivals Professor X and Magneto, when they were known simply as Charles (James McAvoy) and Erik (Michael Fassbender). The period seems fitting, since the first "X-Men" comic appeared in 1963, when fears of nuclear war and radioactivity were front and center in the American consciousness.

The trailer also looks a bit James Bond-ish, showing a series of beautiful women wearing intriguing costumes and/or lounging in bed. Among them are January Jones as Emma Frost, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert and a my-how-she's-grown Zoë Kravitz as Angel Salvadore.

The film is due for release June 3.
