When you've got a lot of holes to fill, you need a lot of dirt -- and NBC has just deployed the network equivalent of a backhoe to fill its many craters. There will be a total of 12 new dramas and sitcoms next fall and winter, but before we get to that crowd: What about Donald Trump?

NBC said "The Celebrity Apprentice" will be on next year's schedule, although Bob Greenblatt, president of NBC Entertainment and the division's newest backhoe operator, said: "I wouldn't say . . . [Trump's return to 'TCA'] is a certainty, but we're hoping he's back with us." In the event Trump does run for president, "the show will go on in his absence" with another boardroom tyrant. "The Voice," "30 Rock," and newcomers"Smash" -- the Debra Messing "Glee"-like series about a Broadway musical -- and Chelsea Handler's sitcom "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea," arrive in early 2012.
